Comfortable being uncomfortable…

Today, I pushed bunches of people outside their comfort zone. I kinda do this without thinking. This skill has become second nature. This skill has NOT come naturally. Real, hard, work it’s been to build the ability to call one out and build one up. I am far from perfect here, but I’m building…

Today, Stan got pushed to be the man. Matt was challenged to swallow his tongue, at least for a couple days at the end of the month. Peteboy was challenged to simply STAND with his unreasonable client. JW was challenged to STOP making little excuses. Jeff was challenged to stop the rationalizing and simply step up and finish. Suit was challenged to write until he has crystal clarity. Dave was challenged to wait. Sometimes patience is harder than acting. Chris was challenged to decide and move on. Sometimes ACTing is harder than patiently waiting for the right moment. Funny, huh…

Frank was challenged to stop laughing when he’s nervous and broadcasting “to be honest with you” as a nervous habit. TZ was challenged to stop being such a pussover. kman was challenged too but all he ever does now is smile.

Today, Stan learned how to practice being ccd. He got better. Today, Matt remained calm and a few others freaked. Today, a few took my challenges and got better. And, a few got overwhelmed and probably took me off their Christmas list, so to speak.

Lead anything, lead anyone, and you had better get really comfortable being uncomfortable. Leaders, remember, challenge their high performers. Leaders push. Leaders make us do what we can…

Are Y.O.U.?
