Today, nine nutcases showed up at the 3PP for SEAL Saturday. On Saturday we push,pull,plank,jump,squat,lunge,and flutter for 59:59. It’s always good but today we put the spotlight on solo jumps. I got cut again this week and Dr. Cuttearlyandoften told me no jumping for a week. Perfect, I’ll watch everybody else jump.
So, we put the 24 inch box in the center, told JW to get 64 and the eight of us got busy in the TRX. Next up was Churp and he set the bar, knocking out 64 high jumps in 3:00. We rotated through everyone but me and then did it again with the 18 inch box and finally finished it off with 64 on the 12 incher. 59:59 went by in a flurry. While one jumped, eight pushed,pulled,planked,squatted,lunged,and fluttered beyond the breaking point.
Here’s what I learned that was kinda surprising. Kary is competitive. I mean Kary is really competitive. Whenever Churp set the bar, Kary followed him, not only followed him but follwed him on purpose. He wanted to jump right after Churp. And, he even kicked his ASS much to my amazement. He nailed the 24 inch box in under 3 minutes. Of course, Churp would get him on the next two and put him in his place, so to speak. However, here comes jmo out of nowhere to restore esteem to us seniors. jmo kills ’em on the 18 incher and doesn’t say a word. Of course, I trash talked for him…
All nine pushed today. All got better. All nine did more than they would have done alone. Together, remember, we improve. It matters who is next to you. It matters who you hang with. Weak attracts weakness. Mass attracts mass.
Today, Kary, jmo, and Churp came together in the 3PP. They do not work together. They do not live near each other. They do not go to the same Church. They do not go way back. They do get tired together. They do push each other. They are becoming friends. I am happy they were here and I am happy they are next to me. Together, we are improving.
