High performers beat themselves up. High performers may be hard on you and me but they are harder on themselves; much harder, in fact. You may or may not notice. High performers know they are flawed and are alright with that. Not alright in a resigned sorta way but alright in a matter of fact kinda way.
High performers see their own deficits and say simply to themselves; I want to change, I will change this. Whatever “this” is, high performers spell out to themselves specifically, concretely, and actionably what they will change. And, at the end of the day they either do it or they don’t. No excuses, just the facts.
Here’s the norm. Normal folks change one word. They change one, lousy, little word in the narrative that plays over and over in their normal, usually good looking head. They say to themselves and oftentimes to countless others as follows:
I want to change, I wish…
Marry want and will, my friend. STOP wishing. The biggest problem I face in this work called BTL are nice looking normal kinda folks. Normal, talented, nice folks that are far too easily pleased; namely with themselves. Slowly, over time and lots of challenges a few change. The deep change I’m looking for, you ask. Simple. The inner ability to kick one’s ASS and come to like it. Like it in a matter of fact kinda way. Like it because they’ve come to believe it’s the only way Y.O.U. get better. My best clients are hardest on themselves. Funny, huh…
What will you do today to get better?
Done so.
