Productively rebel…

Today, over some bacon and eggs, I listened to a couple young folks who are struggling with their King. Their King sounds like quite the tyrant and they deserve better. They had heard about BTL and our reputation for helping systems such as theirs and came calling on me with hopes that breakfast would lead to breakthrough.

Instead, they received a history lesson in the way systems work and why quick fixes don’t work with unreasonable tyrants. George III didn’t transition power to the American colonies because we had a “better idea.” George gave up after our ancestors proved they had a vision worth fighting for and a battle plan to boot. Normal Kings don’t transition power simply because somebody has a better idea.

STOP being reasonable with unreasonable leaders. If you are working for a tyrant, prepare to productively rebel. And, when you’re good and ready, hit them with your righteous battle plan that will improve performance throughout their kingdom. Have an answer to every argument and be ready to fight for what you want. And, if permission isn’t granted, be ready to take your high performance to a more virtuous King or become ONE yourself.

Today, a few young eyes were opened to the facts around how systems transition power; normal ones, that is. Clarity came. The next move is all about creating momentum. Most humans when faced with such a King simply shut ‘er down. They think too much and act too little. Overwhelmed by the size of their problem or the power of their King, they simply STOP trying and settle. They pay their mortgage and hope that someday their King will reward their servitude with some crumbs from the table. In the words of Sponge Bob, “Well, good luck with that…”

Want a better King? Become the CEO of Y.O.U. and make your piece of the current kingdom one of the highest performing. And, prepare your plan for turning more and more colonies up. Study, learn, and apply. Study your system, learn everything about it, and experiment with what you’re learning. You will get better. Your ideas will start to have some meat on ’em. And, fight productively for what you want. Productive rebels lead revolutions that history recognizes. Be one of those. Productively rebel, my friend. Productively rebel…
