Whose are you…

I know lots of folks. Lots more folks know me. I know lots of things too. Plenty know more. I can do lots of things and do lots of them well. I’ve got a beautiful bride and a brand new bed. My ride is bad ass and my bike is too. I’ve got this great work called BTL and the best bunch of clients in the history of clients.

Miss and I enjoy four adult children, two grandpups, and one twelve year old pup of our own. I’ve got sisters here and sisters there. I’ve got a Mom that’s 88 and a Father in law staring at 94 next week. I’ve got friends that ride, a few that rip, and even a couple that run. I’ve got friends that tee it up too. I’ve got nephews that can dunk and ones that can punk ironmen like they were aluminum. I’ve got a lot going for me.

My identity, just like yours, is a complex mosaic. I see myself through the lens of these relationships with people, purpose, and my passions. And, I can easily get lost and lose heart. Even with all this good going on, empty comes way too easily.

However, the heart of who I am is found only as I humbly, quietly, and completely submit to whose I am, first. Thank you Jesus. God, help me understand that making first things first doesn’t make second things less. As C.S. Lewis said, “It makes them more.”

Whose are you, my friend. As you come clean about your identity, remember to start here, first. The world wants you to only focus on what you do and who you know. Knowing who you are starts with asking yourself the bigger and harder one, first.

Whose are you..

  1. Agree with Anna. One cannot answer the “who” question without addressing the “whose.” All gods come in all shapes and sizes and styles. Something forms the ultimate reality of all lives and choices and decisions. Will it be the Ultimate Reality of Truth in Creative Love…or something else? We all must choose. And choices have consequences. Don’t they?

    Great post, Chet.
