Pilgrims do not naturally progress…

Want to get better in 2014? Most humans, at least this time of year, answer in the affirmative. Why, pilgrim, don’t we see more progress instead of an abundance of regress? I mean, come on man, knowledge is doubling faster than we can tweet about it and yet we still trip over ourselves in seemingly historic fashion. What gives?

Fact: Pilgrims do not naturally progress…

Here’s some cold, hard, truth. Knowledge is overrated. Leaders all over this planet know more than their predecessors. The problem is not knowledge; it’s nerve. Leaders know what to do and yet fail to do it. Leaders are thinking too much and acting too little. Today, one of my clients learned he’s waiting too long to take on a bully running rampant in his system. He knows this is true. He knows this is not right. He and his system, however, will only get better when he chooses to ACT on what he knows. His problem, not unlike yours, is he tends to hesitate, tends to think, tends to chew the cud, tends to compromise, tends to play it safe, tends to fear what others will think, and all these tend to take time – too much time…

Want to get better in 2014? For most the recipe isn’t around knowing more; it’s around acting on what you know. Your problem is your lack of nerve. You know what to do, you’re just afraid to do it. I believe your fear is most likely misplaced. You probably fear man too much and God too little. Funny, huh…

What do you believe will make you better? Alright, make it a “done so,” my friend. Make it a done so…
