Will is power…

I’m not a runner. I run once in awhile and not very well. I prefer riding or walking, truth be told. Tonight, however, I ran like the wind. Why? Simple, really. Tonight I had willpower. Here’s why…

Taylor asked me to run with him.

My son, Taylor invited me. He slowed down to run at my pace. I sped up in an attempt to run at his. Want to push yourself toward your performance limits? Find your Taylor. Want to create some kairos with those you love?

Simple. Say yes when they invite you in. Simply say yes to your Tay. Simple. All it takes is a little margin and a willingness to go slightly outside your comfort zone. It’s amazing what you can do when you have the will – when you really, really want to keep up. Will is power, my friends.

  1. Thank you for sharing this. When I run I run alone. My son, Drey, who died in August 2012 was the only person I used to occasionally run with… He was 19 and an excellent soccer player. So running with him was a challenge for me. He would run backwards (facing me) and the whole time I’d hear, “Come on Mom… Come on! You got this! Faster!”
I just began training for my first half – it’s in early May. I think of him every time I run. My playlist includes some special songs.
I don’t run fast… that’s not my goal. But I want to run long. And I’m learning to run for longer periods of time. My Tay is my Drey. I push harder because of him.
