Give and receive…

Yesterday, during practices 110 & 111 some kinda FM erupted. It was real and raw. The room was electric as emotions authentically exposed something special was happening here. Practice 110 – an 89 year old seared us. Practice 111 – a 20 year old did the same. How fortunate for those attending both practices. Amazingly we were also touched by some in the middle age range as well…

This is why BTL chooses to pour itself into a few systems. This is why we don’t fly around the world, expose the masses to the edges of the BTL essentials and then move on to the next. We kinda move into the neighborhood and set up shop beside ’em. We get to know ’em. We tell them over and over who we are, why we’re here, and where we’re attempting to lead them in a crazy, catalyst kinda way. We believe this is the only way to affect the change we’re after – deep change. You see, deep change, in any system, arrives slowly and methodically. The reason? Humans are cynical by nature and made more so by the culture of today. Humans deeply change ONLY when they deeply trust. Study addictions on one extreme and sustained high performers on the other; you will see this is true. Deep trust is the heart of performance because this is the road to becoming ONE, distinct, deeply connected, and BUILT TO LEAD.

Heels is becoming distinctly, well, Heels. Keisha is becoming distinctly, well, Keisha. Alicia is becoming distinctly, well, Alicia. And Churp is modeling, giving, and learning to receive. His system is experiencing a storm that would drown most. He and his team are locking arms, and working their way through. The other side of this set of adversities is gonna be a sight to see…

As Churp put in his note to me this morning, “Life is a test. It’s ongoing minute by minute. We either sleep through it or capture it’s magic moments. Hearing Marie’s (Chet’s 89 year old Mom) humility caught me off guard. Her ability to not flinch and talk about herself was something I’ll never forget. Her mom’s journey and ability to protect her daughter by not pushing her problems on to her family was amazing to hear. Big E’s (Chet’s 20 year old nephew) ability to stand and silently shout his vision was a gift I’m not sure he even understands what G-d has given him. I’m sure we’ll hear great things about E in the coming years. I learned from him the power of speaking softly. It’s not my tendency, but it’s sure something I want a piece of.”

I learned so much yesterday I’m not sure my brain knows how to process it all. I learned it’s normal for transactional relationships to be defined by “give and take.” The transformational ones, however, as Gurue pointed out are defined ever so slightly and deeply different.

Give and receive.

Yesterday was magic because the blessing of giving was overwhelmed with the blessing of receiving. Who knew it was more blessed to give because only then can you truly receive with no need to take? Who knew this and patiently, calmly, quietly waits on us to figure this out? Who knows the thousands of ways this is true and patiently waits for you and me to trust Him enough to give it a try? Who knows? Yup, I know. He does…

Give and receive, my friends. Give and receive. Thanks for the great practices yesterday. I am overwhelmed in the most positive way. Thank you…
