Wrestle with tension…

Somewhere around the age of thirteen we begin to realize we are unique, our parents are NOT God, and we NEED to fit in.  Wow, that’s a mouthful. Here’s what most of us actually do with this aforementioned tension.  We begin, often without our awareness, to attempt to resolve it.  The tension, that is.  AND, without thinking too much.  Here’s how most humans approach this situation.  Do NOT miss this.  This is HUGE.

Most just try to fit in.

Somewhere.  Somehow.  AND, without thinking too much.

Again, here’s the tension.  I believe, we are all meant to be unique individuals AND belong with a tribe, a group, a family, a company, and many more forms of community.  We’re simply wired for both.  Every one of us, needs to know who we are as an individual to enable us to become a part of a transformational team, AND every one of us needs to be understood, accepted, and challenged by a transformational team to become the unique individual we are designed to become.

We all desire to be uniquely individual.  We all desire to belong to something bigger than we are.  This results in…

Tension.

This is an incredible challenge for us as leaders.  Not only must leaders wrestle this tension individually for themselves.  They must illuminate, illustrate, and involve their team in this “practice” as well.  High performance individuals, teams, and leaders are ones that are resolving this tension.  Sadly most humans invest their lives trying to fit in somewhere, some how, and yet miss the most important precursor – becoming the original they already are. This is again why we always begin our work working on your CORE, not your OPUS. You gotta wrestle within before you find your true tribe and author your aim. Wrestle with your tension and always begin within. It is never too early to begin or to late to get started.

What are you wrestling with?
