Building OPUS thru PoP

Few write their OPUS. Even fewer live their OPUS.

To write it you have to dream. Which involves looking out the windows of your fortress and deciding your dream is somewhere outside. Which means leaving and shutting the door behind you.

That’s scary as hell.

But after you leave you realize hell is built and controlled by fear.

Love compels you to leave and gives you the courage to leave. Love overrides fear.

Now what do you do?

Your O-verarching Vision is what your heart saw when it told you to leave. It was undergirded by a P-urpose — i.e. the “why”. When you obeyed, maybe even without knowing what “it” quite was yet, “it” stood you up to your fear. Maybe for the first time.

But not for the last.

Your U-nifying Strategies are the “how”.

They are the 5 main principles that will sustain your freedom. Principles are not tactics. They are not ideas. They are truths connected to a destination.

Mine are:

1. BUILD MYSELF
2. BUILD MY PRACTICE
3. BUILD MY CLIENTS
4. BUILD MY FELLOW BUILDERS
5. BUILD MY LEGACY

I want you to write yours.

When you do, I want you to write what you believe is the #1 Priority for each TODAY. They will be different tomorrow but tomorrow will not be tomorrow until you start living in TODAY. What are they today?

After you have written them, I want you to share them with a fellow builder. A true fellow builder has your “green light” (see earlier blog this month) to give you more clarity. And courage. And humility.

True fellow builders are there. Mostly they are just stuck in traffic jams our “world” and YOU have created. Deliver them from fear from speaking the truth and they will. Deliver them from caution from speaking the truth and they will. They will help you verify or clarify your real priorities.

Practice speaking the truth to each other with love and w/o fear and you will both start to PoP. PoPing like popcorn over a fire — not a fire you’re afraid will burn you but a fire from within. Your P-laybook O-f P-roductive Actions will begin to align with your PRIORITIES.

Popcorns are seeds. So are P-riorities. When they are acted upon, set on fire as P-roductive Actions, your team can smell it.

And WANT it for themselves.

So what’s the melody line? Write your OPUS. Then Opus Focus. Then write your #1 Priorities. Then PoP it out.

Then R+R. R-inse and R-epeat.

AND do it with a fellow builder. Together We Improve.
