Prima donna’s….

Most of my work is with people in power. This is good. Great, transformational leaders possess positional power with a couple more “p’s”

Passion and purpose.

Positional leaders who combine power with passion for their purpose and people are BTL. This is another example of the power of opus. The problem with people in power who don’t love their work or the people they perform work with is they easily turn into something none of us wants. Power without purpose and passion produces prima donna’s, and I’m not talking opera singers either. I’m talking about another “p” word and this one is deadly.

Pride.

Leaders, the kind we go through walls with, have a combination of power, purpose, and passion we find exhilirating. These leaders know who they are, where they’re going, why it’s worth the work, and who is with them. These leaders love their purpose and their people. Study history. History records amazing acts following Jesus, Ghandi, MLK, Wilberforce and numerous others who found the proper use of power – putting others in proper perspective instead of the very popular use of putting ’em down. We do not need another prima donna at your place of work, do we?

Keep your power in proper perspective, my friend. Ask God for help is seeing your real position. Serve your team. Master your craft. Give the world the best you and your team have to offer. Sing it out cause you simply love to sing. Take your eyes off the pop charts and focus instead on giving your audience the songs inside of you. And, keep singing. Eventually, you and your band will have exactly the audience you deserve. Who knows, maybe someday you and those you love will sing so well the world will attempt to annoint you guys as the “first lady” of your craft. You’ll care, but not that much.

Good…
