Today, during a really good, early morning practice, one of my clients informed me of something that’s not true. Don’t get me wrong, my client wasn’t trying to pull one over on me. He simply said something false. He told me his teammate is, and I quote, “driving me bat shit crazy.” He began to explain himself with great emotion. I interrupted him and told him to please write this down. Here’s what I had him write. Do not miss this. This could be huge.
“Nobody can drive you bat shit crazy. You choose. Your choices have consequences.” I reminded him of the words of Viktor Frankl and Admiral Stockdale. I seared him with the truth. Other people, circumstance, and all kinds of adversity can take away all your freedoms. However, you still have the freedom to choose. “Everything can be taken from a man,” Viktor began, “but one thing: the last of the human freedoms – to choose one’s attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one’s way.”
Today, my friend, chose better. Today, friend, you have the opportunity to choose better. Do not allow yourself to slip slowly toward victimhood. Don’t give a teammate, a friend, a boss, or even a brother the power to drive you some kinda crazy. Nobody can. You choose. Your choices have consequences. Good…
