Partners…

Health is hard.

Last week I endured Dr. Cuttfirstaskquestionslater’s 47th cut. This one stretches from above my right ear to halfway down my neck. One of my good friends commented I look a bit like Frankenstein. Nice. My doctor has informed me the Kansas sun doesn’t explain my problem. She’s convinced it’s due to my genes. According to her, I have a genetic predisposition to Squamous cell skin cancer. Something turned these bad boy genes on, we’re guessing.

Dr. Kanodia is my new functional medicine, MD. He’s been testing me for everything. He’s in the process of studying my entire system regarding health. He is studying everything going on inside me and looking for root causes. He’s testing my diet, stress, toxins, microbes, and allergens to see what’s disrupting my entire system. He’s not solely looking at my skin trouble,my high cholesterol, or my highly interrupted sleep. He’s looking at my entire system and working to get all systems working together for optimal health.  In essence, this is the aim of functional medicine. Make sense?

At BTL, our aim is likewise. We don’t engage with our clients to fix an addiction, a sales problem, or provide some short term solutions and move on to the next. We aim to discover the roots of our clients performance in work/life and help them understand what’s going on inside their thinking that is leading to what they do or don’t. We don’t offer quick pills to lessen the pain. In fact, kinda like Dr. K we make it hurt more acutely before we help them eliminate the chronic causes of inflammation, if you will. We partner with our clients in much the same way Dr. K is partnering with me. So far, the hard work has been on me. The good doc can only point me in the right direction with some good data from his testing. I’ve got to make the hard choice to put it into action.

So, if you want to take control of your health, I suggest you find a virtuous partner who loves studying you as a system. I hope those readers who are BTL clients feel their builder is this kinda partner. Health is hard. Building a healthy, vibrant company is hard. Get to the root, friend. Get a few partners you can trust. Thanks, Dr. Kanodia for working with me. We’re partners now. Good…
