Clarity…

Leader, please remember this when communicating with your team about your big dream – You can be wrong and the team will forgive you. You cannot be unclear. Fact.

When reminding the team, challenging the team, casting vision, and when communicating what needs to be done now, master ccd (clear, concise, and direct). Master connectors are crystal clear. Ambiguity and vagueness are not your friend when communicating where we’re going and how to get there. Most leaders suffer from the curse of knowledge – the more we know, the more likely we are to forget what it was like to not know. Most leaders assume too much when connecting with the team. Assume less, leader.

Master being ccd instead. Be crystal clear. Ask the team to play back what they heard, what they’re thinking, and whatever questions they may have. Embrace the silence and don’t be in a hurry to move on. Sit in silence until somebody says what everybody else is thinking. Ambiguity is the enemy of action, leader. We want a team baby stepping in alignment with our big dream. Your problem is you think the team understands as you do. They do not. Don’t believe me, try asking them. You’ll see.

You can be wrong, you just can’t be unclear. Good.

Live hard. Love harder (Thanks, Teeks)…
