Clarity is Queen…

Recently, during practice 64 with a team I love, one of the team asked which comes first clarity or discipline. He knew the answer and wanted to spur our thinking, at least that’s my perception. Instead of answering, I had OB read Steven Pressfield’s Foreword to BBTL. We went back to the beginning as a discipline.

Clarity always comes when we go back, you know.

You can be too direct. You can be too concise. You cannot be too clear. CORE, OPUS, and PoP cannot be too clear. You cannot be too clear about who you are. You cannot be too clear about your aim. You cannot be too clear about your playbook of productive action. This is why we rinse and repeat. This is why we write and rewrite. This is why we never stop the work within and with our aim. Clarity comes first. The clearer you get within and with your aim, the clearer you are with your yes and your no. The clearer you are, the less regret, worry, and bullshit, you know.

Clarity is Queen.

So, friend, go back. Stop the incessant search for hacks. Stop chasing shiny objects. Stop seeking more power, promotion, or prominence. Stop looking for others validation. Stop wishing others would get it. Here’s the truth. When you get crystal clear within and with your aim, nobody will have to get you. Nobody will be able to stop you. Discipline always follows clarity. Fact. Nietzsche was right – She who has a why, can endure most any how.
