Lonely Nation is a great song written by Swithfoot back in 2005. We were not nearly as alone back then. Since 1990 the number of Americans who said they don’t have a close friend has quadrupled. Today, 61% of our young adults feel lonely frequently – almost all of the time. Back in 2013 we spent 6.5 hours a week with friends. By 2019 it was down to 4 hours. Post vid?
2.5 hours.
We are a lonely, damn nation. Being alone is way more than a pain in the ASS – it pains the heart. Hurts like hell. Breaks us. When pain is not transformed it is transmitted. All the vitriol being spewed around comes back to the unseen, unheard, and uninvited acting out their pain in unproductive ways. According to Don Browns research back in the day, the second universal fear of humanity is the fear of the outsider. What, friend, is the corresponding need?
Community.
So, what to do? Simple, not easy. Reach out your hand and comfort the old, young, rich, poor, disadvantaged, and the very best of the best. Create community around you. Give more than you take. Practice Jesus’ command and be good and do good. Simple, not easy.
BTL is here to help. Our aim is oneness not sameness. We are on the road beside you. We haven’t got it all figured out. We simply feel called to help. We are a team of twelve misfits who fit like a glove together. We welcome you into our community. We will model the way, embrace pain and suffering, and embody truth in love. We will be messy and mess it up plenty. We’re human. We’ll let you be likewise. I write here mostly for me and my clients. This one I wrote for you. You, friend, are not alone. God bless you. God, help me give more here, there, and everywhere. God, help me.
Live hard. Love harder. Together we transform. Always together…

Wow, those stats are crazy and alarming. Thanks for sharing this, for your humility and for your words of encouragement!
Thanks, Jon, for your kind words. All the best to you and your opus. Keep working, my friend…
