Humility…

One of my deepest held beliefs is around control. We all want it, crave it, even worship it. Ain’t none of us got it. We are not in control. Fact.

When my brakes went out on a French mountain top (back in 2019), I was completely out of control. The energy of the mountain hurled me downward. Gravity pulled my tiny, sorry, insignificant, self as my trusted bike wobbled wildly beneath me. No control. I kept looking for a place to lay the bike down while dodging cars and motorcycles as I made turns at speeds I’d never seen. A timely uphill saved my sorriness. Do not wait for the world to humble you, my friend. It will. Mount Cenis humbled me.

Slow down. Reflect. Become aware of your pride, your misplaced trust. It’s hard to stay humble when you’re always looking down on people. Look up. Be grateful. Thanks, God, for all the reminders. I’m still learning to trust you.

Live hard. Love harder…
