Fear is better…

Fear is better than anxiety. Here’s why. Fear has a target. I’m afraid of snakes, standing on high ledges and looking down, and many other specific things. Fear lessens when you name it, face it, and decide to go through it (whatever it is).

Anxiety is different. Anxiety is fear without a target. Anxiety is a feeling of being overwhelmed and not knowing exactly why. It creates a general malaise and takes more of our energy. We have an epidemic of anxiety invading our world. Doom scrolls exacerbate it. Aloneness multiples it. Name it. Face it. Act into it. Anxiety lives in ambiguity. Clarity is its enemy. Clarity within is where most wars are won. Fear is better than anxiety. The opposite of fear? Love. Love is the best.

Live hard. Love harder. Much harder when it’s hard…

  1. Toto, I have not yet seen this wisdom: ”Anxiety is fear yet to be named — fear without a target. Fear that grows in the dark w/o anyone or a builder to discuss with to get to the root.”

    So true.

My nuance is the opposite of fear — a feeling which arises involuntarily when confronted with a threat/danger/conflict/trigger — is another feeling namely a peace which surpasses understanding — meaning the situation hasn’t changed, only your experience/feeling of it.

My “and” is the antidote to fear is love, i.e. the object of your focus. As your focus shifts from what you fear to what/who you love – love casts out fear.

To become fearless requires the skill of loving more to fear less.

This is the melody line of BTL. Love more to fear less. Leaders are believers, and leaders are connectors. Be the love you want in your team/family/marriage/community, and they will become a team that loves more, and fears less.
