Leadership…

Leadership is a lot like training for your sport. You do not train for sport by going on an occasional soccer retreat. You don’t train for sport once a quarter. Similarly, you wouldn’t consider a growth forum as a Petri dish for learning to lead, would you?

Leadership is like training for a sport. You train for a sport with deliberate practice. You do it day in and day out. You do it in season and out. You don’t expect exponential gains. You expect to aggregate marginal gains through the discipline of domain specific training. You slowly build soccer skills through good coaching, tough teammates, and worthy competition. You learn to lead the same way. You learn with deliberate practice, good coaching, and marrying the mundane day in and day out. The world lacks great leaders because few have the humility to be built to lead, few have the willingness to be coachable, and few believe they have more to learn. Good leaders train when they have time. Great ones train deliberately. You?

Live hard. Love harder….
