Recently a client shared his big dream with me. It’s BIG and a good one too. There was one troubling element, at least to me. He wants to be known. Well known. Here’s what I told him.
Be more like John – John Adams that is.
His nightly prayer with his children was some ccd magic. “Be good. Do good.” I’m certain it ended with a few other words that varied, but those four were the constant. He did not add – Be known. You see, friend, he knew being known is out of ones control. Being and doing good is not. My client got a little vision correction without changing the size of his dream.
The more we focus on being good and doing good, the more the world will sit up and notice. We might be wildly popular. We may be known by a few. We will be peaceful about our place, wherever that is. We will make a difference in a dark, noisy, distracted world.
