Day 6…

Day six is in the books. We rode the lacets and summitted Col de Chaussy. I was sweating out of pores I didn’t know I had. Previous years we would start to get in a cycling rhythm by now. I’m not feeling it this trip.

I’m feeling the struggle. Humbled.

This is hard and I don’t have the same will to pain as in previous trips. Enjoying the ice cream, the laughs around the bar, and the pizza and beer are tasting extra special. Fact. Tomorrow, we attempt to summit one of the most epic climbs in France – Galibier. Thursday we do a difficult double up Iseran and the Cenis. The outcome is in doubt. Not sure either are doable. This too is why we ride. There is something exciting about testing yourself and not knowing if what you’re attempting is out of reach. We’ve done these summits before (At age 50, 55, and 60). They are all feeling harder this time around. Peej, the young pup, is riding circles around the three old dogs. We’re glad he’s here and are also glad he’s not letting us hold him up.

Life is hard, beautiful, and brief. Time is undefeated. Keep pushing your limits and know your limitations. Damn.

Live hard. Love harder…

Much harder!
