The root of courage…

The root to our biggest problems, most likely, is you and I don’t realize we’re a coward. Cowards play games. Cowards act detached one minute and domineering the next. Cowards get quiet when Mr. Big walks in the room. Cowards bully in a one up position. Cowards are different depending on where they are and who they’re with. Cowards are everywhere. We all suffer from a failure of nerve.

A strong CORE informs courage.

It takes courage to be who you are. It takes courage to stop being afraid of being afraid. It takes courage to act consistently independent of circumstances. Courage, like anything, begets more courage. We are what we repeatedly do. And, once you get comfortable in your own skin, you’re in perpetual “energy save” mode. You just solved some of your energy management problem. Damn.

So, where should we start in our quest for more courage?

Let’s begin with increased awareness. You and I are designed to be needy people. We need to be plugged into God and we’re afraid of even this. The roots of courage are rooted in He who casts out fear in perfect love. Today, in prayer with Mom, Grappy, and Lynn, we felt encouraged by God’s spirit. We need this daily. This I believe. God, help me behave accordingly. Yes, I need help – lots of it, in fact. You?

God, help me fear (healthy, loving, worshiping) you – other humans, not so much. FOPO (fear of people’s opinions) is an epidemic today. FOG (healthy Fear of God) is clearly what I need. God, help me see clearly. God, help me plug into you, the giver and sustainer, the root of courage. God, help me look up, get up, and never give up. God, help me.

Live hard. Love ❤️ harder. Much harder…

  1. Reminder for newbies and oldies…

    Courage is Essential #3.

Humility is Essential #2 … and is foundational to courage, meaning your pride (the enemy to source of courage) must be checked at the door.

Essential #1 is a Strong CORE…which in our BTL worldview means there is something(who) way bigger than any of us.

Simple as 123 — but not as easy.
