Solitary practice…

What separates good from great?

This was the question posed to a team of grapplers as we congregated for practice ONE.197. The answers were really good and quite diverse. In my study on this topic the melody line is clear.

Peak performers invest a s%^&ton more time in solitary practice than their teammates.

And, it’s just not more time alone in training. It’s deeply focused time. I took the picture above immediately after our grappler practice. Walked out into the Covelli center and this athlete was training alone. I shouted down to her and asked what she was doing. She said “getting in extra reps before the rest of the team gets here.” I yelled back, keep it up, you’re on the road to greatness.

She smiled. Got right back to work. I got in my car, drove home and got my current read out. Read and wrote for hours. I’m studying harder than ever after 22 years of BTL. The more I learn, the less I know. Fact.

You, friend, can do more than you think. Do more. Mostly alone. Solitary practice with deep focus. You wanna be great or just good enough. You choose. Your choices have consequences. Damn.

Live hard. Love ❤️ harder…
