Character…

When terrible things happen (and they will) our character is revealed. We either respond with anger, frustration, revenge, or defeated – we give up. We rationalize our response accordingly and set in place a pattern – hard to break too. We either stay fueled by these negative emotions or collapse beneath them. Fact.

Here’s the terrible truth.

If we suppose ourselves “made of the right stuff” we will respond another way – with faith, humility, and courage. We will become, as the Bible so aptly describes, “overcomers.” This is terribly hard. Truth.

Slow down. Reflect. Are you pleased with your habitual response to the hard circumstances of life? I for one am not. I know better responses are possible. I remain a work in process.

God, help me look up, get up, and never give up. God, help me trust in your goodness, mercy, and endless grace. God, help me, through the crucible, come out more formed by you, more forgiving, and more faith filled, humble, and courageous. God, help me.

Live hard. Love ❤️ harder…
