What friends do…

“A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for adversity.” Proverbs 17:17

“Like cold water to a weary person, so is good news from a distant land.” Proverbs 25:25

The last couple days I hung with Mom in my hometown of Salina, Kansas. She’s fighting a double infection – one in her leg and another in her lungs. Her energy is zapped. Spirit, too, has taken a hit. She’s grown tired of fighting. Losing hope. She’s a lot like many of us, huh. So we talked. I mostly listened and was ccd when words were needed. I coached her from her worldview (happens to be mine too) and reminded her whose she is and where hope lives. She thanked me. I was actually just giving her a dose of her own medicine. You see, Mom, kept me believing way back in the day when I was losing hope and tired of fighting. Her words and the belief behind them built me into the fighter I am today. Fact.

So, friend, stick out your hand. Don’t be afraid to ask for help when you too are dragging ASS. And, friend, take subtle notice of the nuances in your friends. Oftentimes you might need to sense the unexpressed need behind their sunken body language. Translation. Lots of folks struggle asking for help. Go ahead take the initiative. Give your hand. Give and take care, remember. That’s what friends do.

Live hard. Love ❤️ harder…
