The modern world tells us width matters most. Chase followers. Network your brains out. Spread yourself thin.
Ancient wisdom teaches a much different truth. Happiness is fleeting. Want more joy?
Depth matters most. Deep relationships multiply joy. Be with. Slow down. Be.
Recently, with a team I’ve grown to love like my own, we went back to basics. Practiced 7 good minutes. Worked on taking one question and going deeper with just it. Amazing what these young teammates learned about each other. Made me smile. Deep and wide is great if you’re able. Most are not.
Choose depth. Joy lives here.
Popularity is overrated. Trust me. I’m on Medicare. Miss’s man. Father. Grandfather. Blessed to still be son of Marie. And friend to a few, really good friends. Chasing no one. Chasing no thing. Content and challenged to be great in my domain. Caring deeply for my few. Grateful for a loving, grace filled God. Blessed beyond belief. Blessed by it. Joyful.
You know your few? Go deeper. It will cost you. Worth it. Damn.
Live hard. Love harder…
