The Hebrew word tetelestia translates to the English phase “it is finished.” These were Jesus last words on the cross. He was proclaiming His death as victory for all humankind.
Imagine this.
The Roman generals and military men used this same word frequently. When the battle was won it was customary for the Roman leader to place his foot on the chest of the fallen enemy, raise his arms and declare Tetelestia!! Can you imagine the shock of those eyewitnesses hearing Jesus emphatic declaration as he hung on deaths door?
Jesus declared victory.
What, friend, will your life declare? Will your words be worth remembering? Your deeds? Will your friends and family view your life as victorious? God, help me live like death is a door. God, help me live without fear of man. God, help me model the way, embrace pain and suffering, and embody truth in Love. God, help this broken man walk with a limp and carry on. God, help me do more than I think. God, help me. Amen.
Live hard. Love ❤️ harder…
