Over prepare > over think.
Today’s band practice was more freakin’ magic. One of the young Builders shared truth regarding his state of being going into his practices. He’s struggling with figuring out how to be prepared for practice and yet be able to go with the flow, go where the client/situation dictates instead of where the Builder is prepared to go. Here’s the root of his problem. May have application for many of you.
He is overthinking, not over preparing.
You cannot prepare too much. Remember, JimmyTHEgants warrior training mindset. Preparation. Preparation. Preparation. Preparation. Can you do the thing in the rain, wind, extreme heat or arctic cold? Can you perform while taking enemy fire, without air support, and taking casualties? Can you do the thing in the dark? Can you do your best when the competition is better than you assumed? On and on it goes. You cannot be too prepared. When you’re prepared you don’t get ahead of yourself. You simply do what the moment demands. When you overthink, you’re a step slow. Maybe just a half step. That’s the difference between stopping your opponent before he reaches the crease or him using his half step as leverage to make the “nearly impossible shot.” Where are you overthinking and under preparing, leader? Going with the flow is where the freakin’ magic lives and you can’t get there without doing the work.
Reps remove doubt, dumbASS.
Live hard. Love ❤️ harder…
