Yesterday during practice ONE.63 with a team of golfers, we went around the room to see who wanted to grab the reins. The answer?
No one.
So, I gave them a quick nugget around why I’m here vs why they are. I show up filled up. Ready to overflow. They show up because they have to. The road to normalcy is filled with dudes who are doing what they have to do.
The road less traveled is only for the few.
The few who know why they’re here, where they’re going, and are figuring out how to get there. They want to. Want a great short game? Want a great relationship? Want a great career? You wont get any of ’em because of obligation – because you have to. Flip the script, dumbASS.
Tell yourself “I want to.” Deepen your want to. Deeper still. Good.
Find yourself doom scrolling, distracted with strong drink, or sitting in boring meeting after boring meeting? Your “want to” is too weak and too unclear. Get clearer. Get after it. I only do what I want to. Truth. This is why BTL has more opus than we can accomplish. We cannot say yes to everyone. We must choose our domains of excellence and say NO to many good people and passions. Is your want to strong enough to let your yes be yes and your no be, well, no?
Good is the enemy of great. No bullshit. Truth. You’ve been reminded. Damn.
