Be there…

Let me keep this simple, men. According to the John & Julie Gottman’s 40 + years of research in the love lab, men have two major complaints with their bride/partner/girlfriend – “There’s too much fighting, and there’s not enough sex.” Women have two major complaints about us – “He is never there for me. There isn’t enough intimacy and connection.” We almost sound like we’re from the same planet. F%^& me.

Recently, during an early morning practice with a really strong, masculine client of mine, I reminded him he’s emotionally soft and weak. He had no argument. I wouldn’t either…

We are the weaker sex. Damn.

Men, being there for our women is a really big deal. Our Mom’s, brides, partners, girlfriends, daughters, and sisters need a man who is there. We can do this. In fact, we love doing this. We love stepping up and being the man in so many ways. We just need to tune our hearing a bit more toward home and hear the yearning (not the crazy criticism/condescending commentary). Hear the yearning, not the harsh set-up (btw, it’s only harsh ’cause our hearing’s at a loss).

Turn toward. None of us is Superman. We cannot be there for her all the time. She will forgive this. Be there, some of the time. Be there, friend.

Let me finish this really simply, men. You don’t seem to struggle being there for a finalist pitch. You don’t mail it in in the operating room. You are on for every freakin’ practice, right? Be there when you go home. Be there. God, help me be there for my Miss. God, help me be there. Damn.

Live hard. Love ❤️ harder…

  1. Never. Never. Never. Have you written a more important testimony to ALL of us men. We FAIL. We FAIL. We FAIL.

From the first man, Adam. To us. Adam stood by and said nothing. AND THEN blamed Eve.

WE have been DOing that ever since.

LOVE the ONE, who has given you light, hope, faith and love. The one who has given you children and put up with all of your bullshit.

Just stop. STOP AND THINK about what would happen to your heart, your dreams, your life WITHOUT…Her.

YOU would BECOME a shell of the man you think you are.

Our grandmothers (Oh dear grandma! YOU were the first human I ever fell in love with!), our moms (a direct gift from God, Himself), our wives (a manifestation of the love God has for us), our daughters (is there any better gift?) and our precious, wonderful and beautiful little granddaughters (who show us a love we did NOT know existed)…love the women in our lives.

    Give THEM our ALL.

Simple, not easy….for us men? Blind, deaf and dumb.

Thank you, Lord, for women. For the greatest love we will ever know in this worldly realm. Help us. help us ALL to cherish the most precious gift you have given us…

    The women in our lives.

    Amen. Amen. Amen.

    Proverbs 31:10
