I love watching the Jayhawks play basketball. I love watching my son Taylor even more. I live in Ohio so I only get to watch the Jayhawks “live” once a year. I follow them on ESPN and on the intenet. Here’s my new favorite thought.
When the Jayhawks break their huddle they say something kinda unique. They do not yell “defense” like I taught Taylor and his teammates this year. They do not yell “Jayhawks.” They don’t scream “team.” Here’s what they say.
When the Jayhawks break a huddle they only say one thing. They scream it. They join hands and yell…FAMILY.
As I coach individuals, teams, and leaders I’ve come to realize that every business is really a family business. Some just don’t know it yet. You work for a family. How does it feel?
When you break your huddle, what are you screaming?
Does your team know how much you care?
Does your team feel like family?
