Self…

Self efficacy is different from self esteem. When you esteem yourself you basically communicate to yourself that you feel good about who you are. You feel good.

Self efficacy is when you believe you’re good. You may not like yourself, you may not feel good about yourself, but when you possess self efficacy you know you have the ability to perform. You know you can make the shot, design the site, solve the problem, and find your way. You are confident and your confidence is based on your belief in your skill.

When building your team, focus on building the former and not so much the later. Practice building the real skills that will give you and your team members a real advantage that is distinct from those with whom you compete.

We need more teams that know that they are good, regardless of how they feel about themselves in the moment. Funny, huh….

  1. Self-esteem is transitory, and should be, because it rests on events and how well or poorly we respond to them. To build the capacity to respond well more often than not, follow this structure:

    Self-discipline—>Self-development—>Self-efficacy—>Self-respect

Underneath this structure above is a choice:

    Worldview—>Belief—>Self-worth?—>Calling?—>Purpose?

This structure, if anchored in TRUTH, is unchanging, and forms both a foundation to self-efficacy and a force multiplier to self-respect.

Once again, it all comes down to clarity and belief.

Thanks for another short and sweet post Chet.
