Broken people…

All humans are a house divided. None of us gets out of here completely whole. Pascal was right, we all have a God shaped vacuum that only He can fill and yet we all seek cheap substitutes instead. Talk about choosing visibility over vision. No surprise that broken people produce broken relationships that we all see way too often and way too close to home. Home, Bono was right, is where the hurt is…

How are you filling your vacuum? Are you putting your faith in your profession to make you whole? Are you putting your faith in another broken person to somehow complete you? Are you putting your faith in pain killers and numbing it up until you’re gone? Are you putting your faith in unbridling your passions and seeking sensation, pleasure, and adventure after adventure? Are you putting your faith in yourself and building a fortress that secures your future, albeit your future, alone…

God, help me build more dangerously. God, help me put my faith in what I can’t see, can’t prove, can’t understand, and can’t explain. God, fill my vacuum with your Spirit. God, help me. I feel better just asking…

  1. Amen, Toto. When that vacuum is filled with the only thing that can fill it …instead of a vortex sucking from everything outside it works as a pump filling from within ….then overflowing out of abundance into the lives of fellow builders
