This morning, during a very productive practice with an old but slow client of mine, we went backwards to make more progress. My client reminded me he is at his best when he remains positive. It makes him feel more resilient, he said. His nature, he’s come to discover slowly, is more negative, frustrated, and quick to fatigue. Normal. For him, being positive, keeps him connected to the goal. This brings him clarity and confidence to keep his eye on the prize. There is a pathway. Find it. Stay positive, he concluded.
There is truth here. There is more and more neuroscience to support my clients claims. The more positive you remain the more connected and the more likely you find the prize. The more positive you remain the better. What then is the root of real positivity?
Hope.
Where does your hope come from, my friend? What gives you hope? Whom do you trust?
For me, my hope comes from God. So, I’m storing up prayers like the squirrel stores up nuts for winter. The more we bathe in prayer, now, the more positive we’ll remain when lifes adversity comes calling. We don’t know the hour of our deepest need but we know it’s coming. Prepare your positive, resilient response. Pray. Ask God for help. And build a reservoir of strength within. It is amazing how much faith is a mindset issue as it is a belief issue.
Pray. Prepare. Practice applying your PA with rigorous discipline. Focus. Finish. And, rinse and repeat because you LOVE the gift you’ve been given. This was the PA for my client. Here’s the verse he volleyed to me…
“For in this hope we were saved but hope that is seen is no hope at all. Who hopes for what he already has? But if we hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently.” Romans 8:24-25.
What is your mindset today? What is the root of your negativity, positivity, or melancholy kinda mindset? Slow down and reflect, my friend…

Love this man. Prayer is life…
Word… – and good four-letter one at that!
Thanks for the blog Chet. Good stuff. Today my mindset is to focus. I am a little melancholy today. The root cause is that I’m tired. It is a result of lack of focus. I am focused on changing that today. My workout later this afternoon will require it of me so that I can give my all. I am focused on Phillipians 4:13.
