Yesterday, during practice with my favorite international client, we introduced a team of teams to the BTL process. The Segment, International, and Country teams (SIC) came together and learned they have a lot more in common than being this really cool conglormeration serving game changing clients like Google, Workplace, and Uber. They learned to embrace that they’ve been too easy and too hard on themselves and each other. They embraced a “pass/fail” approach to performance and are already comfortable with “good” instead of long winded explanations of why it’s not so good. They are learning to speak ccd (clear, concise, and direct) and from the heart. They are learning to listen with intention, with child like curiosity, and to tune in like an animal being stalked. They are learning we are much more alike than different. They are learning becoming ONE, distinct and deeply connected is the heart of high performance teams and it’s so hard to achieve, much less sustain. They are learning.
Today, they are going to practice longer and more intensely than they ever have. They are going to look within and get busy building. We’ll go slowly and it will still hurt, help, and head those that want it, in the right direction. We’re playing together in the BTL playbooks and lots of laughter will intermingle with lots of labor. You see, this team, is going to taste the power of becoming a laborer in love. Fear took a hit yesterday. Good learning gained some ground.
Good…

As part of the ‘S’ in SIC I’m already playing the game instead of observing, giving my seat up on the train home was a great first step to continue the beginning of a new journey…and what’s 55mins of standing in the scheme of things?! I’m good.
Thanks again Chet and may the single track help the flow…
Jeff,
Thanks for taking the time to write me. I’m happy for you. Glad to hear you took the first steps. Always good. We’re in Berlin and it’s beautiful here. Thank you again for your attention and best wishes to you in your journey…
