Today, Miss and I received a good reminder while listening to Eric teach at Vineyard Columbus. He taught from the book of Mark where Jesus prayed three times for God to take his struggle from him. Jesus wrestled with God. God heard his prayer but didn’t change his circumstance. Jesus had to go through it, no different than you and me.
God uses prayer, most often, not to change our circumstance but to change us.
God, help me remember this truth. I’m in much deeper need of change than are my circumstances. I’ve got all kinda fears and want the easy way ’round em. Help me remember there can be no Easter without Good Friday. Help me remember the struggle is all part of the plan. In fact, the struggle is your plan for getting me to look up instead of in or down. Who knew the point of prayer is more about changing me than changing my circumstances.
Who knew…

Your blog is one of the few blogs I read. Thank you for sharing your wisdom and prospective. Thank you for saying yes to your OPUS…. By doing so you’ve helped many others say yes to theirs. You are much appreciated. Blessings to you and your family, Chet.
Chet – great insight here. We buried one of my best childhood friends last Good Friday. He was a Christian and always talked about his love for Jesus. I’ve seen his death bring about much life change and many lives growing in faith. Without death, there is no hope. Without struggle there is no redemption. Great stuff – thanks for writing.
Thanks for sharing and sorry to hear of your loss. God bless you…
Thanks Kim. Too kind…
