Old dogs. New tricks…

You can teach those around you, regardless of your age or theirs. You both simply have to be teachable. Sunday, our daughter(Krit), taught her grandmother Marie (age 98) a number of things. She wanted to learn how to use her new calculator. Done so. Mom wanted to learn how to turn up the volume on her computer. Done so. She wanted to learn how to use Word for storing her Sunday letters to the family. Done so.

Mom is still learning at age 98. She is humbled by her eyes not seeing what they’ve once seen (never had the need for glasses until age 95) and her mind not processing what it once did. She is still learning mostly because of her willingness to learn and see teachers around every turn. What about you? Are you listening to truth tellers and defaulting to tell me more? Are you a master at triple d (defend, deny, destroy)? Are you too proud to accept help or too preoccupied? Slow down. Reflect. Write. Thanks, Mom, for modeling the way. God, help me be more like her. God, help me be an old dog and always learning new tricks. God, help me.

Live hard. Love harder…
