I hear many young-ins repeating the phrase “juice aint worth the squeeze.” Translation. The effort required aint worth the gain. Quite popular phrase. Yet many folks are squeezing the wrong stuff, you know…
Yesterday, during practice ONE.78 with my favorite team of golfers, I asked them a similar but unrelated question.
“What comes out of an orange when you squeeze it?” With little to no hesitation they responded emphatically – JUICE. I smiled and asked them to think again. Blank stares greeted me. I waited. Eventually one of them remembered this from a previous BTL practice. Whatever’s inside he said.
Correct.
If the orange is ripe, it’s juice. What if it’s not ripe yet? Nothing. What if it’s over ripe? Putrid stuff you would not put in you. What comes out of you, leader, reveals what’s inside. Fact.
Don’t like what comes out of you when life squeezes? Don’t like your game when pressure gets to you? Life’s storms putting you on tilt? Hope aint the answer. Hoping you figure it out. Hoping the triggers stop triggering. Hoping you somehow grow into a perfectly poised person under pressure? Hope aint a strategy. What does work?
Build inside. Do the work within. Build a strong CORE and never stop building it better. In fact, become the best at getting better. Inside, where no one sees.
Plato was right. The greatest victories are the victories within. You can’t string them together without consistently working within. Maybe it’s time you put more weight in your keel. You know do some work below the water line. Remember, what comes out of you under pressure reveals what’s been in there all along. The squeeze and juice. Own it. Damn.
Live hard. Love ❤️ harder…
