Why?

High performance individuals, teams, and leaders invest their time asking questions. Remember, at BUILT TO LEAD, we believe that transformational leaders are both Curious George and my way IS the highway.

Here’s a word about questions. Want to improve your performance? Stop focusing on the results and the “how to” questions…my current anti-question is, “how to get to the next level.” What in the world is that? And who cares how you get there?

Here’s the word.

Ask more WHY questions. Do not stop with the first thoughts that come to you when you ask this of yourself. Why do I say I want to exercise but never make the time? Why do I desire balance but never seem out of balance towards home? Why do I refuse to learn from certain team members? Why do my relationships seem to never satisfy? Why does my spouse remind me of what is wrong instead of what is right with me? Why am I so afraid of facing my fears? Why?

Start to write at least three why’s for every question. You will be amazed at what you might find. Ask why questions of yourself and your team. Embody Curious George.

Forget “the next level.”
