A little bit more faith…

Happiness and wealth do NOT have a linear correlation, in fact, it’s not even close.

Why then do you suppose that the vast majority of either Republican or Democrat, Liberal or conservative, believer or atheist, young or old, “rich” or poor, when asked how much money they need to be happy, respond like Rockefeller…

“A little bit more.”

The problem lies in the question and the presuppositions it infers. We assume that whatever wealth we’ve accumlated represents some kinda movement toward our “number.” Our number represents some kinda “financial freedom” that when it’s achieved allows the owner to do as they please, whatever that means. So, the majority of us keep pushing on and scorecarding ourselves by our number. We keep grinding and laboring away, hoping that we labor not in vain. We labor, truth be told, in pain. Not the good kind either. Most humans labor in chronic pain. These humans slowly wear down and become downright fixated on their numb; number, that is.

The truth is far different. Financial freedom is a lie. Study history and prove it to yourself. There is no set number that correlates to increased freedom and sudden happiness. Wealth, once accumulated, can be stolen, lost, divorced, and gone in sixty seconds or much longer depending on your lawyers.

Happiness and wealth do NOT have a linear correlation. I suggest you slow down and think a bit about what does. Think about what brings a smile to your face, what gives you energy, what challenges your brain, what softens your heart, what you would do for the love of your labor, and why you don’t have the time. And, ask God for help. Ask God to show you your real strengths, talents, and abilities and how to begin to use them a little bit more.

And, maybe just maybe, you’ll find that “a little bit more” faith is much more freeing than you once thought. Funny, huh…
