Last night, after the OSU grapplers senior banquet, a Dairy farmer and his wife made sure they intercepted me before I departed. Kurt & Robin Steiner live on a farm near Norwayne, Ohio and had been concerned about how their son, Zach, was gonna get along down in the big city. Kurt said when Zach started sending him the BTL team practice notes, he couldn’t believe what he was reading. He and Robin looked me in the eye and thanked me. We talked for five minutes about their son, OSU wrestling, and the warmth and appreciation just kept oozing out of them. I now know where Zach gets it. We finished our time with me telling them truth about their son – he’s a hard worker, curious soul, and writes with clarity. We smiled and shook hands.

As I walked to my car, a Duchenne smile creased my face and joy filled my heart. We said goodbye to six seniors but three of them will still be in the room (Nate, Bo, Kyle). I met some old and new parents. In a little over a month we’ll begin training camp with their best recruiting class yet. We will begin season five together.

Together, Grappy, these teams, families, and the BTL band is transforming. Together we transform. Score. Good…
