Recently, during another strong practice, a client of mine found clarity. He understands why he’s got a cancer in his system. His words. He faced the facts and wrote out the productive action to step into the healing process. He has come to an intellectual understanding. Now for the really hard part.
Does he have the nerve?
Toxic people, you see, are a lot like malignant cancer cells. Malignant cells do not evolve, specialize, or colonize with a purpose, and are totally un-self-regulating. Malignant cells go rogue and disconnect with the very cells that might help them. They reproduce uncontrollably and are guilty of treason, killing the body that gave them life. Malignant cells don’t know when to quit. Sound like some toxic attributes of anyone in your system?
I reminded my client I’ve had Dr. Cuttfirstaskquestionslater cut these kinda cancer cells out of my body 58 times. Who, in their right mind, wouldn’t do the same if cancer cells were discovered in them. Of course, you wouldn’t even think about waiting, would you? Why then do so many leaders take so long to cut toxic teammates? Forget all the rationalizations and countless reasons offered up. The root reason leaders are waiting too long is simply a failure of nerve. It is one thing to come to an intellectual understanding regarding what must be done. The real question remains. Do you have the nerve?
Live hard. Love harder (Thanks, Teeks)…
