The Latin word Matrix has it’s origin in Ancient Rome. The Roman engineers who were figuring out how to make roads, aqua ducts, and other such things for the first time, were early adopters to say the least. The algorithms they used to solve these complex problems they referred to as the matrix because it gave birth to the answer. You see, friend, the Latin word matrix translates, literally, to the English word womb. The Romans believed the matrix gave birth to the answer.
Your worldview is a matrix of sorts. Your worldview is how you make sense of the world. Have you taken the time to consciously discover your deepest held beliefs? Are you too busy to solve this internal problem? You choose. Your choices have consequences. Author your matrix. Swallow the red pill. Figure it out. Align behaviors with beliefs. Of course you have to know the latter to align the former. Slow down. Make sense of your world. I mean come on man, do you think you were deisgned to be a second hander? Do you think you were meant to just follow the leader?
Today, during a tight one on one practice with another new client (I keep saying no and my clients keep demanding more, funny huh), I ranted for quite a long while about ancient education. Back in the day, we taught our young to live the examined life, thanks Socrates. Today we seem to teach them only how to become a master at examining anothers life. We know more about the Kardashian’s in America than we know about ourselves. We need to begin to build our internal matrix instead of keeping up with twitter, faceplant, instagram, or the latest snaps. Great lives, as my client learned, require a depth of understanding – a philosophy for living. Building your BTL core is a lifelong process. The tighter your core the less time it takes to react to the input of life, the calmer and more consistent your response, and the more peaceful you become in the crucible. The tighter the core, the more virtuously you stand when the inevitable shit hits the fan.
Are you able to stand when the input of life causes your knees to wobble? Are you building your matrix, friend? Do you believe you were designed to think for yourself? Do you believe you were meant to learn to do hard things well, own your stuff, and “left foot, right foot” on the road less traveled? Is your answer (Matrix) evolving as you are? Good.
Live hard. Love harder (Thanks, Teeks)…
