Yesterday, we toured the island of Capri off the Amalfi coast of Italy. The weather changed capriciously as we boated over in glorious sunshine only to be greeted by thunderstorms upon arrival. As we walked the island, it went from sunny to storms as it pleased – nothing was predictable. This two week trip has been enjoyable because its been the opposite of Capricious. It has been consistent.

Remember this truth as you lead your team today, leader. Your team does not do well working with someone who is unpredictable and changes mood, style, and behavior like Capri weather. Teammates value consistency and calm. Teammates look to their leader to regulate emotions, both their own and those around them. Today we went to Pompeii to see a city buried by an explosive, unpredictable volcano – Mount Vesuvius. Do not be capricious, blow up unannounced, and bury your team in negative emotions from which they cannot recover. Nobody wants to be led by someone unpredictable. Fact.

Calm and consistent, not capricious or Vesuvius. Live hard. Love harder (Thanks, Teeks)…
