You and are I mostly hard wired toward one thing – loss aversion. This has been transmitted down the line for like forever, friends. Excellence requires that we lean, purposely, into this tendency. Excellence requires that we learn to do hard things well by doing hard things not so well, at least for awhile. This will feel like a loss when you’re a center back in soccer and take more risks than your current skills can comfortably, competently, complete.
Confidence comes when you learn from the risk taking and failing. Confidence comes when you do not fixate on the loss but instead train the brain to focus on the gain. What are you learning to do to build more competence in your craft? What are you telling yourself when it goes miserably wrong? Loss aversion or love learning? Slow down and reflect. Write. Learn more.
Live hard (learn). Love harder…
