Day 46: Your moral code…

At BUILT TO LEAD, our moral code is simple — truth in love. Truth occurs 362 times in Becoming BUILT TO LEAD. Love occurs 411 times. Highlight or underline it when you see it, and you’ll see our BTL melody line pop off the pages.

Truth sets you free, but not just to do whatever you want — that’s not our moral code. Truth sets you free to live the way you were designed to live. You were designed by love, in love, for love.

And this is no ordinary love. It’s the jaw-dropping Greek word for love called agape. It’s not of this world, but it’s exactly what this world desperately needs.

The goal of our framework is agape love from a pure heart, a good conscience and a sincere faith. The result? ONEness within, and ONEness with one another.

None of us is perfect, but together we can be Awakened, Challenged and Transformed on our Builder’s Journeys as we recognize MOTs and ACT on them. Faith (i.e. belief) working through love. Together we identify integrity gaps, speak truth in love to one another, and in doing so become perfected in love.

With humility and courage, speaking the truth in love leads to growing as ONE team — distinct and deeply connected. This happens as the whole team, being fitted and held together by what every team member supplies, according to the proper working of each individual team member, causes the growth of the team for the building up of itself in love.

Truth in love discerns right from wrong and addresses it with the right people at the right time for the right reasons with the right emotions in the right way — not self-centered/other-controlling, but core-centered/self-controlling. It takes more than truth to know what’s “right” — it takes wisdom to apply truth in love.

Simple, not easy, but that’s our moral code at BTL. This little rant took 20 minutes for me to write, and a lifetime to prepare.

How about you? What’s your moral code? Are you making it up as you go, or are you become consciously clear about what you believe, and the principles you live by?

Write. Then write some more.

Done so.
