I believe even the most creative, innovative people on the planet are mostly imitating someone they’ve known or studied in history. Humans are imitators by our very nature. Study the origin of accents. Study the origin of America. Study the origin of great companies. Study word of mouth epidemics. Study reality TV. Study social media, AI, or anything else that’s spreading like a virus. Here’s the most important person to study, however.
Look in the mirror.
Your children are watching and learning. Same goes for your team. Neighbors. Extended family and friends. Competitors. Are you worth copying? Are those closest to you imitating some of your best traits? Choose role models wisely. Choose friends with care. You too are an imitator. Slow down. Reflect. Write. Study history, namely your own.
