Smile…

Today, Mom and I went to Church, lunch, and finished it off with ice cream. It was a day I will not forget. You see, when I dropped Mom off at the manor I told her let’s take a pic together to remember this day. She looked in the camera and couldn’t see, she told me. “Just smile Mom,” I quickly replied. So, she did. Without thinking.

I’ve watched my Mom smile for 67 years. She always smiles with her mouth shut. I asked her why this was many years ago. “Because well water discolored my teeth,” she said. Yet today she smiled with her mouth cracked ever so beautifully open. Made my heart smile. You see, friend, we’re always growing and changing as long as we’re still breathing, you know.

So, friend, face your fears. Forget what others told you about being too much, too little, or too discolored, or too colorful. Go on. Lean in. Sometimes it helps to not think about it. Go on. Smile from ear to ear. Great being with you, Mom.

Live hard. Love ❤️ harder…

  1. Pure love and pure OPUS right there. Thank you, Chet, for so generously sharing Marie with us. She is a true treasure. I will always be grateful to the Lord for her, and for how she models the way. ‘Blessed are the pure in heart for they shall see God.’
