Play like a kid. Whatever is your aim in work and life, if you’re going to sustain excellence, you’re going to play with it. Have fun with it, you know. Find the joy in the hard. Find peace in the pressure. Find it and keep it.
Train like a pro. You won’t get far if all you do is play. You must bookend your playful mindset with good, old fashioned, grit. You must train when it’s raining. You must train when you’re hurting. You must train when others have given up. You must train when others call you a “try hard.” You must train when you don’t feel like it or just don’t want to. You must train like a pro.
Do not mix the two. Way too many try to play like a pro and train like a kid. Does. Not. Work. Creates anxiety and chaos for you and your team. The world is filled with dudes who take themselves too seriously and their training too childishly. Not good. Certainly not great.
Play like a kid. Train like a pro. Bookend these. Embrace the paradox. Never stop. Damn.
Live hard. Love ❤️ harder…
