This early am, BTL band practice was this old dog and the two youngest pups – Dakoter and Voss. We played together for the better part of an hour. Melody line?
Play.
They are young parents. Filled with hopes and dreams for their little ones. Both want to be great parents and will be. I mostly listened. Spoke few words. Remember, leaders, the truth takes few words. ACTions speak louder. BTL is mostly caught, not taught. So, I did not share my many regrets as a parent. Instead I told them the first thing top of mind I would not redo.
Play.
Rough house. Kick the can. Pickup football in the front yard. Baseball. Soccer. Basketball. Tag. Freeze tag. Hide and seek. Play with them. Get on the ground. Play with them.
Today’s BTL band practice was play time. Always is. Always will be. Play more with your work. Play more with your life. Play more with your husband. Play more with your wife. Play more with your parents. Play more with your friends. Play more with strangers. Play more with those like you. Play more those your own age. Play more with those unlike you. Play more with those much younger and even much older. Play more. Damn.
Live hard. Love ❤️ harder. Play with them…

Never STOP. Amen.
